Management Accountant
North West

Construction £50,000 - £60,000

A growing construction and residential development group is entering a major new phase of expansion under new ownership and a modern, forward‑thinking leadership team. As the business scales, we're strengthening the finance function and introducing clearer processes, reporting and controls to support a more structured, data‑driven operation.

We're now looking for an experienced Management Accountant to take ownership of month‑end, project reporting and financial control, while providing accurate, commercially focused insight to senior leadership. This is a hands‑on role with real responsibility - ideal for someone qualified or part‑qualified with at least three years' experience in a similar environment who wants to step into a more senior, influential position.

You'll work closely with the Commercial Director and operational teams, supporting project reporting, cost tracking, margin analysis, WIP and CVRs. Alongside this, you'll lead the month‑end close, produce management accounts with variance analysis, manage reconciliations, prepare VAT returns, support audits and help strengthen systems, controls and reporting structures as the business continues to grow.

This role suits someone analytical, organised and proactive - someone who enjoys improving processes, building structure and contributing to a finance function that's evolving quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce monthly management accounts with clear variance analysis
  • Own the month‑end close including accruals, prepayments and staff allocations
  • Maintain accurate project financial reporting: cost tracking, budget monitoring, margin analysis, WIP and CVRs
  • Lead balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
  • Manage the fixed asset register including additions, disposals and depreciation
  • Prepare VAT returns and ensure timely submission
  • Support bids and tenders with financial analysis
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and business planning
  • Support audits with documentation and evidence
  • Strengthen financial controls, reporting structures and system accuracy
  • Provide financial insight to senior leadership and operational teams

About You:

  • ACCA / ACA / CIMA Qualified
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in management accounting
  • Strong reconciliations, reporting and month‑end experience
  • Confident with Excel and modern accounting systems
  • Ideally experience in construction, housebuilding or project‑based environments
  • Analytical, organised and solutions‑focused
  • Comfortable working at pace in a growing business
  • Someone who enjoys improving processes and building structure

What's in it for You:

  • £50,000 - £60,000 salary
  • Join a business in a major growth phase under modern leadership
  • Real scope to influence processes, reporting and financial structure
  • Strategic exposure and visibility across senior leadership
  • A role with variety, ownership and genuine impact
