Location: Derby (On‑site)

Sector: Highly Regulated Engineering / Defence / Complex Tooling

Clearance: British Citizens only - eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC) required

The Opportunity

Are you and experienced mechanical design engineer, looking for your next long-term opportunity?

We're delighted to be supporting a major engineering consultancy, delivering complex tooling and mechanical design solutions across highly regulated sectors, as part of a wider framework agreement.

Due to significant investment and long‑term programme growth, we're looking for experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineers, with strong Siemens NX skills and a background in tooling, fixtures, jigs, lifting equipment or precision mechanical systems.

Here, you will be joining a powerhouse of the engineering world, working with a talented, multi-disciplinary engineering team, and the chance to collaborate on cutting-edge, meaningful UK programmes with long‑term career potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • 3D modelling and 2D detailing in Siemens NX
  • Managing design data via Teamcenter (PLM)
  • Full lifecycle tooling design: requirements → concept → DfM → release
  • Producing assemblies, sub‑assemblies, BOMs and detailed drawings
  • Applying GD&T to ASME Y14.5 / BS standards
  • Supporting gated design reviews and client presentations
  • Ensuring compliance with safety legislation and UKCA requirements

What You'll Bring

Essential:

  • Strong Siemens NX (3D + 2D)
  • Proven tooling / jigs / fixtures / lifting equipment design experience
  • Teamcenter or similar PLM experience
  • Solid DfM understanding
  • Confident with GD&T

Desirable:

  • Experience in nuclear, aerospace, defence, heavy engineering, oil & gas
  • FEA exposure (Abaqus, ANSYS, MathCAD or hand calcs)
  • Manufacturing or toolmaker background
