About the Company

We are a growing utilities infrastructure contractor delivering gas, water and multi-utility projects for major framework clients including Cadent and United Utilities.

You'll gain hands-on experience in tender pricing, cost analysis, subcontractor engagement and commercial risk assessment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing tender documentation, drawings and specifications
    * Support preparation of detailed cost breakdowns (labour, plant, materials, subcontractors)
    * Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations
    * Help build pricing models using Excel and estimating software
    * Support risk and value engineering discussions
    * Maintain cost databases and historic pricing records
    * Attend internal bid review meetings
    * Assist with handover of successful tenders to project delivery teams

You'll be mentored by experienced Commercial Managers and Estimators, learning how bids are structured and won.

We're open to different backgrounds, including:

  • Graduate in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Construction Management
    * Commercial / Finance Administrator within construction looking to progress
    * Site Administrator wanting to move into commercial
    * Assistant QS with an interest in estimating

You should have:

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
    * Good working knowledge of Excel
    * High attention to detail
    * Strong organisational skills
    * A proactive and willing-to-learn mindset
    * Good communication skills - able to liaise with suppliers and internal teams

Desirable (But Not Essential)

  • Experience within utilities, civils or infrastructure
    * Knowledge of NEC contracts
    * Awareness of NRSWA / street works
    * Understanding of frameworks such as Cadent or United Utilities

What You'll Gain

  • Structured commercial development pathway
    * Exposure to major utility frameworks
    * Mentorship from senior commercial leaders
    * Clear progression to Estimator → Senior Estimator
    * Competitive salary + benefits
    * Long-term career stability within essential infrastructure

Why This Role Is Different

This isn't a "data input" job.

You'll be part of a commercial team that directly impacts contract wins, revenue growth and long-term framework relationships.

If you're ambitious and want to build a serious commercial career within utilities infrastructure, this is the right move.
