John Lewis saw a 6% uplift in sales in the week ending 4 February compared to the same week last year. Electricals and home technology achieved a double-digit increase at 10.8%. The star performers within the directorate were IT with sales up 61.2% and consumer electronic accessories, up 31.4%. Sales of televisions were also strong, up 13.7%, as customers ensured that they were ready for the digital switchover in London and the South East. Home sales were up a modest 1.2% on last year helped by an 10.2% increase in sales of bedding as the cold weather encouraged customers to buy new duvets.
