Final call for £1500 scholarships Mon, 7th April 2008 Final call for £1500 scholarshipsSkillsmart Retail and Retail Trust have made a final call for applications for ten prestigious management training scholarships. They are offering the £1500 awards to the Oxford Summer School, a highly regarded residential retail training course run by the British Shops and Stores Association (bssa) at Keble College, Oxford from 16-22 August. The scholarships are aimed at managers from small and medium sized retailers to allow them to access world class training and develop their expertise by learning from some of the best experts in the field. Anne Seaman CEO of Skillsmart Retail said: "If retailers don't get fast-tracked onto the latest global thinking, they may begin to fall behind the competition. For managers of smaller and independent retail companies, the Oxford Summer School is the perfect opportunity to network with other retail managers and industry leaders in a relaxed yet stimulating residential environment." "As the Sector Skills Council for Retail, we are fully aware that the training budgets for many businesses don't stretch to the attendance fee. As a result, we have teamed up with Retail Trust to offer these ten scholarships to promising candidates from small and independent retailers."
Through the informal, relaxed residential course they will learn from delegates and experts alike to sharpen their practical retail skills, maximise their workplace experience and grow as retail leaders. There are 10 bursaries available which are open to all retail managers, but companies that have less than 250 employees, and owner managers are especially welcome to apply. If you think you have what it takes, download the application form from the events section of www.skillsmartretail.com, or visit www.british-shops.co.uk or www.retailtrust.org.uk now.
