Vodafone UK to create 200 new retail jobs Wed, 25th March 2009 Vodafone UK to create 200 new retail jobsWednesday March 25th 2009
![]() Vodafone UK has today confirmed that all 50 sites for the retail store expansion programme announced last year have now been secured. Roll out has been underway since September, with 40 new stores already serving customers nationwide. The remaining 10 stores will be opening in the coming weeks. The store expansion programme will take the total number of stores to 400. These new stores will add approximately 3155 square metres of extra retail space and create 200 additional advisor roles in total. Tom Devine, director of sales for Vodafone UK, says: "In August we outlined plans to increase the number of stores to give customers more opportunity to get face-to-face help. This could be about anything from which handset is right for them, to receiving advice on the latest in mobile broadband technology such as the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with built-in mobile broadband, or help with technical set up or a bill. We are delighted we've been able to complete the roll out on time and feedback from customers has been tremendous." In March, Vodafone launched its NVQ retail training programme which is open to every retail employee and paid for by Vodafone. There are no prerequisites to join the programme, and to date over 1250 employees have signed up. There are six levels, which together equate to 15 GCSE and 4 A-Levels.
